Hey. I just wanted to know if i could put one in a emptey 10 gallon.I plan to buy one at petco because they have small 1 inch long ones.If it gets too big i can move it to my 35 gallon.

Short answer, no. Because they grow to about 6" (if not more) they need at least 55G tank when fully grown.
