They're just big pussies really aren't they!

I've had one for quite a while now in with my keyhole's since it was very young. Everytime I look into the tank it's flaring at someone, but as soon as it realises that nobodies backing down it shoots off and hides

Anyone else find that with firemouths?

Agree completley mine is 2nd in dominance to my gt when he gets chased he will go and chase the tetras ( i think just to feel big again)

My Elliotti are exactly the same. I had a firemouth once, she was a big of a devil though.

Yup, FM's are generally (with occasional exceptions) all mouth and no trousers (that may well bea UK-only expression !).

Well if you think about it, that's why they have a flap that flares at each other. If they were straight up killers, they would not need it. Like convicts, they don't have huge flaps, they just have bite. So, lets say you don't have much bite. Why not have a big flap that scares the crap out of potential enemies. Well, they do. My male does have quite a bit of attitude towards his mate, but he is also probably 6 inches long.
