I just put 2 firemouths in my 25 gallon. They just chill in different hiding spots through the tank. Should I put some small fish in there just to get em to come out? I relize the prospect would mean the new fish ending up ate but the FM's are not even eating. I was thinking of getting 6 zebra danios and if it got the FM's out of hiding I could put them in my 35. I would overstock it a little more though and I dont want that either? This is my first FM experience so please, any help would be appreciated.

i would give them a few days to get used to the new territory. i have found firemouths to be rather shy. are great fish though.

I have 2 in a 30g along with a female rainbow cichlid and a Clown pleco, they come out to see me although they are a bit skittish. Just try not to make too many sudden movements around the tank :D Try giving them frozen foods or bloodworms, and give them live fish as a treat, every once in a while. If they are fed exclusively live fish it will be even harder to adjust them to sticks :)

They are very shy until they get to know the routine around the tank, but even then they will hide alot. If you're putting food in there they are probably eating when you're not around. They are great fish, good luck!!!!!

theyre relly cool

when they come out they get relly colourful and have a big personality so just wait a while untill they get used to their soroundings

I actually have a firemouth in a 25 gal community tank with various tetras, dwarf gouramis, clown loaches, flying fox, etc. He seems very happy and completely non-aggressive.
