1 of my firemouths has developed a little whit bump on its bottom lip. last night it was swimming around with a big lump of prawn in its mouth for ages ( dont know if thats relevant ) the pic quality isnt that good it wont keep still long enough. the pic makes it look worse than it is too. apart from this the fish seems happy enough. any ideas is it disease or could it be an injury?

IMO it appears as the fish has knocked itself on something, monitor the situation and add some melafix if you have any, It should be noticeably better in a couple of days if this is the case. If not you can try something like Myxazin to prevent further bacterial infection but tbh it probably won't get that far

its just cropped ut toad and as luck would have it its water change day so i have done good water change so i know my water is pristene ad have added some myxazin just as insurance. thanks for the reply

no probs, we have an arowana at work atm that we are desperately trying to rehome which had the same bump on its bottom limp from crashing into the glass when it got spooked. I'm sure it'll heal in no time

thats reassuring, was a bit worried cos ive got an l81 coming tomorrow morning and last thing i want is disease!!

Lumps that suddenly appear are usually bacterial.
Good Luck.

must of been an injury as its completely healed and back to normal now. which i guess shows ive got decent water quality

Good to hear that bless him.

cheers i rekon it most likely happened when he was swiiming around with a big piece of prawn in his mouth and my blue acara nicked it off him
