Hi, I'm just wondering how long Fire Belly Toads can go without being fed. I know my fish are okay for a week but I wonder how many days can the toads go without food before I need to get someone to come in and feed them. How many crickets or worms each should I feed the toads before I leave?

I may have to go away and the toads would not be fed for four days.

Hello,

I don't know if you already got your answer or not. It is usually best to feed your fire belly toad every other day. However, if you are going away and have no one to look after it, you can feed it some extra and then it should be good for up to five days.

I usually feed my fire belly 2 large meal worms every other day. If I were to leave for four or five days, I would probably feed it 3 the night before we left and then maybe place another worm or two in the cage on our way out.

I hope that helps.

You don't feed your FBT's crickets? In everything I've read it says that crickets should be the main source in their diet and mealworms should be given only occassionally if at all due to the fact that that have such a hard ekoskelton and it's hard for the toads to digest.

I always fed crickets to the FBTs I had before. But this one won't eat them. I have no clue. I've tried many things, everything from leaving them in there for a long time, moving the FBT to a different location and placing the cricket in there, etc. But I can place the mealworms in a small dish in the cage and he'll go right to it and eat the meal worms without a problem. And when he's hungry he'll sit in there. So for this particular FBT I've made the exception. LOL!

i want some but i would just put like to 1 toad of crixs :fun:
