theres food still lieing on the surface and he's on the bottom still breathing but not moving going to give the tank a 25% water change after tea, oh yeh i did try getting some of that medication only to find the fish store closed

just put im in the big tank see how he copes with the current and other fish and to try and get a photo, i played around with the photo so you can almost see his folded tail and see that he swims with his nose down or in the air

nothing was getting any better and tonight he started up turning and floating on the surface upsidown i thought it was best to freeze him so not to prolong the suffering, hope i did the right thing for the poor little critter

oooooooh, you chose a bad method, freezing really hurts. Don't do it again as the blood near the surface in the capillaries freezes, rupturing the vessels.

I'm not telling you off, cos I am assuming it is a hard thing to do, but just giving you info incase you ever have to do it again

for very small fish like that i find a blunt object aimed at the brain does best.

If you search this site there are a few articles in here about fish euthenasia, they are not as easy as freezing is on US, but they are a lot "kinder" on the fish.
Sorry that you had to do it, its not a nice thing to have to do.

Just get a jug of very cold water add ice cubes to it, put the fish in a container with hardly any tank water and tip the cold water over the fish, or drop the fish in the coldwater jug.

That is not a very nice way to get rid of a fish, is it?
Whats the difference between that and freezing it?
AND minnows can tolerate cold water anyway.

I dont want to get into a debate about fish euthanasia on here as enough has already written on this forum.

I suggest you read it.
