My male sword has been sitting around the bottom of the tank for a week or so and at first it didnt look like there was much wrong with him.
A white bit appeared at the base of his tail then another on his body, I put in costapur to see if that helped but now the bit on his tail just above his sword is gone and he looks in a bit of a bad way.

Does this sound like finrot and what should i treat it with?

A quick reply greatly appreciated :good:

How many gallon or litres is the tank.
How may fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
The white on the body does it look bleached out or fluffy in appearance.
Once livebearers rest on the bottom of the tank bad news.

Tank is 10gallons and its just my male sword i think.
my water stats are all 0 and my ph is 6.8-7.0
something i can add to my whole tank would be advantagous as i dont have a quarantine tank. will there be such a treatment?

I have stress coat here which says "promotes healing and regeneration of damaged fin tissue and forms a synthetic slime coat to help prevent electrolyte loss"

doubt it will be much use though?

any recomemndations?

also the white patch look more fluffy than bleached but was very small. the tailfin is very ragged too

There was some increases in temperature when the weather was really hot last week but other than that i dont think its that. there is only one or two Very small white marks on him and his tail is deteriorating. looks nothing like the fish on there. other than them being different fish of course!

will anti fungus and finrot treatment be ok to add to my whole tank?

Myxazin by waterlife.
Columnaris has many disguises.
Finrot can be a secondary infection.

He just came out for some food and i managed a closer look
theres not any marks on him anymore. My LFS lady who is usually very knowledgeable thinks he might have had whitespot and my other fish have been picking on him when he was poorly. i start work in an hour and i no longer have time to get anywhere for any treatment.
Heres hoping and thanks alot for your help at short notice Wilder :good:
Much appreciated!

Ive had whitespot too, but when i got a closer look at him there were no markings on him, did look a bit like he had been bitten.

Too late now anyway
Swim free Pedro :-(
