my new male's top fin is like as long as his body so he seems to have issues swimming its kinda waird he almost swims with his tale vertical
how bad is that?

The dorsal fin is not a problem being that long, but it sounds like his tail to to large and is off balancing him.

Their is little you can do other then to see if the fish can correct the problem as it's usually to do with the swim bladder as well.
If you have no fish which dont like salt that can help as well.
