Hi all. I'm thinking of breeding Tony, my scarlet / blue wash crowntail, and have been looking at females. There is a nice cambodian with red fins in my LFS, and I think it's a CT too. I don't know much about betta breeding genetics, so can someone advise me of a good match?

is tony the ct in ur pic? if so then he is a very pretty boy, looks like he is actually a double ray ct, means they have more then 1 ray extending from each bit that pokes out, a female ct looks a bit like she has a fringe on all her fins, when you breed you can do any combo but like colors and types make more like babies, doing diff colors makes diff colored babies, but before any breeding is started read read read, there is a ton of work invloved and supplies so make sure you know and have exactly what you need, tank, food for parents and babies, conditing the parents right, what to do when you have to seperate the babies ,, all that stuff should be done before you start, it is very hard, espicaly for first timers you and the fish, oh how old is ur guy and the female ? between 6 months and a year and a half are the best breeding times, if they are too old they might not be able to get to it all all, and most importantly , ,,,,,,paitence,,, it took me 2 months to get any babies so if things dony work out right off, just wait and try again! happy future fish parenting! :good:

I just say get what you think will turn out good

But im a novice/idiot too :p
no ones an idiot, i like crossing stuff, thats what make the gene pool for future generations. Humans do it so why not bettas, some human crosses turn out a little strange but hey I CANT HELP IT :hyper: its not my fault
