nitrate 40 ppm
27 UK litre tank
7 guppies
6 tetras
Did a fishless cycle
tank age : around 2 months (no less)

Noticed one of my guppies acting abit slow, got white stringy poo attached to him.

What do you feed your fish?
Does the fish look bloated or thin.
Long sringy white poo can be constipation, bacterial infection, internal parasites.

Signs of internal parasites are.
long stringy white poo, or clear mucas poo, red poo.
Worms putruding from the anus.
Enlarged anus or red inflamed anus.
Sunken in belly.
Being thin or bloated.
Sometimes bent spines.

His body doesnt look any different really.
i think clear / white
I think bent spine aswell not sure if im just over analysing though!
I feed them tropical flakes (tetramin) and Daphnia and sometimes blood worms
(all out of packaging for fish)

Does it look like the spine bending.
Bent spines can be old age, fish tb, internal parasites, injury, or birth defect.
Once the spines bends nothing to be done.
How are your other fish.

I would worm your fish if one has a bent spine.
Its always hard to say fish tb.
it wise to worm fish anyway.
Lievebeares camallanous worms.

Sort of but then he swims around sometimes he does look arched
It wouldnt be an injury im pretty sure of

Other fish are absolutely fine :S
Ive had quite a few random deaths thought it would be ok now
one died last night
but before that i didnt have any deaths for around 1-2 weeks!

I would buy that wormer and dose your tank.
I always worm new fish just incase.
If the fish with the bent spines looks in pain or goes further downhill I would end his misery.

Internal parasites can alot of damage to the organs and even brain damage.
Once the damage has been done a med won't work, but you can save the rest of the fish by worming the tank.

Ok i will try to find some!
he really doesnt look in pain i dont think.

Thats the only med in the uk that treat camallanous worms.
So I would buy the med online or its a trip to the vets for a med.

Yes i will buy that med, the fish now is still alive (barely)
He is hiding between the fake plants , took a while for me to see him
He is definately on his way out :( out of control, the only way i can tell hes alive is his eyes and fins either side. his tail stump has got alot darker?
really was a beautiful fish, had no problems with him up until my other one died two days ago... and they both were great for about 3-4 weeks :(

It is a shame because i am trying my best, however i am never over stocking anymore.
fed up of dead fish its very very sad :(

Bless him.
I used a jug of very cold water then add ice cubes till it's freezing cold, add the fish to the jug of freezing coldwater.
It takes about 30 seconds for the fish to die, but leave the fish in the freezing water awhile to make sure its passed on.
