My betta is finally eating! I got some freeze dried blood worms a few minutes ago. He kind of inches up to them....stares at them for a second....then grabs them rather viciously. It's kinda fun to watch. I also got some different beta food. It's granules rather than flakes, and a different brand so hopefully he'll like them.

I also took a few pictures. I had some trouble getting the colors to come out since he's pretty dark. I may try again later when there's less light coming in from outside. I think it's a crown tail? But I couldn't find any other pictures that had tails as long as his.

  That is one handsome boy! He is truly awesome! might have to pinch him aint got that colour :shifty:

Thanks for the comments!! I really have no idea what kind he is. He came from a local pet store and I think he was $10-$15(US). I don't know much about bettas and even less about the different types. He's probably some sort of hybrid, but he's really impressive looking when he flares up.

One night when I have time, I'll get him to flare at something and hopefully I can get a good picture that shows both the fins and the color.

very nice!! he looks like Ian's CT just a bit darker. lovely fish

This may be better off in a new topic, but now that he's decided to eat, how often should I feed him, when should I feed him, and how should I alternate bloodworms and the normal food? The regular food I got him is tetra min granules for bettas, or something like that. The one he didn't like was nutrafin betta food.

That's one nice CT! :D

I'd only feed the freeze-dried bloodworms once a week. Freeze-dried foods aren't generally all that great for bettas and should only be fed as a treat. The pellets are good, and I'm sure he'd love frozen food too if you're looking for more variety. :)

Thanks lisie! ;)

How many times a day should I feed him and what are the best times? Also, what kinds of frozen things will they eat and where do you get them?

I feed my guys twice a day in the morning and evening (except on days when I have to get up at 6 am and rush out the door for class, then I only feed them at night), one meal of pellets and one of frozen foods. Bettas do fine just being fed once a day, though. :) You can get frozen foods at any pet store, I think... usually you have to ask for it because they have the freezer in the back. They love brine shrimp and bloodworms... I also just started using mysis shrimp which they don't seem to like as much but they'll eat readily enough. ;)
