hey every1,

so i've finaly decided on the fish i'm puting in my new tank.

there will be:
4 german rams
4 apistos
6 harlequin tetras
2 danios
7 neon tetras

it's a 60g tank,planted and well filtered.

will this setup be o.k?are all the fish compatible?can i add more fish?

thanks in advance :D

on the right tracks fishwatcher, any species of danios will prefer to be in groups of atleast 6.

not sure of dwarf cichlids so will let someone else answer that bit.

it looka good, but i wouldnt get any more fish, its about on the limit, especialy for the rams. Some people say they need 20 gallons each, so i wouldnt fill it any more than that.

o.k , i've put in the rams,harlequins and danios.
neons and apistos r comin next week.
there are about 10 plants , more to come.

sorry for the fuzzy pics :X

yeah it's a goldfish.(same tank)

it's my first fish , he's like 1 and a half year old.
he's my biggest fish but the most cowardly :p

he's a diff type the only time i've seen 1 like him is when i bought him.
do you know what type he is?

i dont sorry... but you shouldn't mix the two together. Goldfish like temperatures up to 18 degrees and tropical like your getting - espeiclay the rams like 24 degrees.

they eat completely different food as well - i certainly wouldnt have that in there, rams need to be cared for and looked after, they are very sensitive to change.

they will survive but will most probably lead to problems. goldfish are extreemly messy as well compared to tropicals.

i've had that goldfish in my old 10g tank which was WAY overstocked and it was 25C. it was in that tank since it was 2 months old and i never had any trouble such as excess poo or ammonia.
it eats anything i throw in the tank :p including a few loose plants.

don't worry it'll be fine :D

quite simply your goldfish will die early due to raised temperatures!

it's just a common goldfish which IMO shouldn't be kept in tanks at all, proper swimming space can't be given in most tanks and most epople don't cater for there full gornw size of well over 12" sometimes.

i would recomend buying a bowl or seperate tank for him
NO, it is NEVER ok to keep a goldfish in a bowl. Please never reccomend this. I understand if you didn't know that goldfish are unsuitable for bowls, so I'll tell you why:
As you stated, goldfish can grow over a foot long. The common goldfish, what terrorist_124 has, can easily grow longer then 1 foot. The fancy goldfish usually get to about 8-12", some even more. Can you imagine trying to fit a foot long goldfish in a bowl? It wouldn't be possible. You would be stunting the fish very badly, his body may stop growing but his insides (organs) won't. The fish will die a slow and very painfull death.
Goldfish produce A LOT of waste. And I mean A LOT. More then any tropical fish. They would be producing way too much ammonia for a small bowl, you'd have to be doing water changes 2 times a day.
In the end, keeping a goldfish in a bowl is very inhumane, but you did suggest getting a seperate tank for him, which is great!
terrorist_124, a 20 gallon or so tank would work great. If you want to get him a buddy (which I highly reccomend, since goldfish are very social fish) you could go with a 30 gallon tank. You could even have a small shoal of either danios of WCMM (white clouded mountain minnows) or a small group of weather loaches, because they all prefer the cooler temps (like your goldfish does). Your goldfish will be much happier, he'll have his own "goldfish buddies" and the heat won't be bothering him. It will be also easier to feed him, since he needs to eat goldfish food, not tropical food.

i don't hav space for another tank.
it would be better for him if he stayed in my 60g.
than if he went back to the store to live in a 10g with 15 more goldfish.
It will be also easier to feed him, since he needs to eat goldfish food, not tropical food

from what i know goldfish flakes and normal flakes arn't that differnt

From what I have read on forums each Goldfish needs 10gals of water. That sounds an awful lot but that's what they say.
