It seems like Sparkles may be in his final days of life here. All hes done for the past 3 days is sleep on the sand on his side or sleep up on the filter bracket where he can rest his whole body.

His tank is filtered and heated to 80 degrees and it is 6 Gallons. I have a master test kit somewhere deep in my closet but ive given him 25% WC every 2 days and since hes alone in there there shouldnt be that much waste.

The only time he ever gets up and slowly swims around is when i gently tap on the side of his tank and when he sees me put my face in front of it, or when he needs a drink of air he comes up and promtly sinks back down. When i go away he just kinda sinks back down to the bottom without really moving his body...

He does have a weird condition at the moment which looks like his skin is flaking off and getting a little moldy...Its not white or like any other desiese ive seen its just clear flakey bits attached to small parts on one or two spots on his body and nothing on his fins(very hard to explain) It may be from when he fell on the wood floor last week he damaged some skin. ive been monitering it and it hasnt gotten worse its just stayed the same.

I think I'll give him a nice water change and throw some aquarium salt in there to see if that helps.

His tank is empty right now as i had to throw all his plants away when i disinfected it out after a nasty worms outbreak. I went last week to get plants but Big Als had a crappy selection with just a few and most were dieing. Im going out later today to grab him a bunch of plants.

Here he is just now:

dunno try posting in the emergency section , but if hes realy 4 to 5 years old try to throw a ton of medications at an old fish usually dosent do much anyway, keep his water clean and stress him as little as possible, but it may just be his time.

Hi Kaisa.

I think what is occurring here is just a symptom of old age, velvet, or an bacterial infection from when you dropped him on the floor.

Its hard to lose a fish you've had this long, since its very easy to get attached to betta.

P.S

Its finally nice to find someone where I live :]

bless him, just old age I think. I would just keep him quiet and let him slip away. :good:

Poor old lad :( . If he's still eating and so on then it's best to leave him be and keep his tank clean and quiet . If he was dropped on the floor he may still be recovering from that and may yet go on for a little while longer with luck.
