Hi,

I've been looking more closely at bettas over the last few days, and I've known for some time that there are different fin types, but I never really see any varients on sale in any of the FSs I go to.

I was wondering what sort of price plakats and halfmoons go for, I'd love one of either, prefereablly a halfmoon, but I have no idea where to get them, apart from aquabid, and I'm not too sure about buying fish over the net, or having them sent through the post.

I live near Chester, UK, if anyone has a betta room or summit like that they would be willing to show me in RL, and could get me one of the above I'd be greatful for any infomation.

thanks :good:

oh and I'd be looking at getting solid colour ones, not marbled or multicolour ones, really -_-

Hi, I have only ever found veil tails where I live. I did get CTs from Jobys Bettas, and a CT whilst on holiday. You might have to buy through the post to get what you want. good luck :good:

I relucantly bought a new betta from Pets@home yesterday, in the tank he looked like a normal VT, but turns out, after posting a pic here, that he is a CT. :) which was nice.

but I'd like another male for one of my other tanks :D

Try Bettaman, you could drive round to his place and pick out one you like from him, check out his website and see what he currently has in and contact him to see if you can pop round, he lives Staffordshire way.

thats a good few hours drive though, I don't drive  , The GF does and she only just agrees to drive for 30-45mins to the NOT-SO-LFS at morten Garden Centre, but its the BEST in my sorta local area, IMO. lol

so doubt she'd drive that far, isn't not a major issue I just would have liked one, but I might be able to live with out, only maybe though.

I am insanely jealous now having never even seen a betta at our petsathome let alone a CT! Lucky lucky lucky. My lfs and aquatic centre wil try to get certain types in when they next order. They did get me a pale one but he didnt last long, so it might be worth asking them and then they might be able to get a different type. :good:

yeah that may be an idea, I'll prob ask my not-so-LFS :D

As for pets@home, the two neat me, Chester and Wrexham always have VTs in stock, but they don't live long in their tank, well thats more aimed at the chester store, as they put them in the wrong tanks, for example with gouramis or another male betta. I really hate the chester store, but it good for dry goods :)

The wrexham store is much better though, but if I was going to travel that far I would pefer to travel 10mins more to Chirk, to the excellent not-so-lfs B)

Studz,

exactly how "near" to Chester or Wrexham are you?

Have you tried: -

Grosvenor Garden Centre in Chester
Waterways in Wrexham
Limestar tropicals in Tarvin
Wyevale Garden Centre in Winsford
Burleydam Garden Centre in Ellesmere Port?

there is also another good, proper LFS in Mold, although can't think of the name off hand.

I live in Deeside, The grosvenor imo, aint that good, it has a great selection of tanks, but its fish selection is that good, its mostly livebreaders

I haven't been to any of the others, that a trip for the next day off I think :D

We've only got VTs around here... I dont really care though, I much prefer VTs... Our Pets@Home is pretty good for fish, and their Bettas seem happy enough...
