Fin Rot

Hi all,

I am pretty sure my fish have fin rott, but im not sure why. What are usually the causes of it? Also how can I cure it? what types of medicines should i buy?

It can be caused by poor water quality so try doing frequent water changes to help out.
It'd help if you could post water stats, tank size in litres or gallons and also what fish you have in there. It'll help one of the more experienced members give you better advice

Finrot is mainly caused by bad water quality and fin nipping.

5.5 Gallon tank, 2 serpae tetras and a snail( snail obviously dooesnt have fin rot), water temperature is 24C ummm i went and bought them some medicine thought so they are currently undergoing the treatment.

Have you tested the water for ammonia, nitrAte and nitrIte levels because these could be high and the source of the problem.

Your tank is not overstocked but Serpae Tetras apreciate groups of six -ten and are happier in tanks 24+ inches long. If you want to keep them you should get a larger tank.
