Hello again, you guys are becoming my bible! :good:

Have had to treat all my fish for fin rot...partially my own fault because I didnt segregate new fish for a week.
When I have used a treatment should I also add some safe water to keep the water ok and the fish less stressed? Or will that stop the treatment from working  .....also, if I am not asking too much...is one treatment generally enough to cure it as its only minor?

Am cheeky asking all this stuff but if you dont ask you dont find out ha ha xxx

How many gallons or litres is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
What med are you using?

Hiya, its a 96 litre tank, water stats are normal apart from GH, which will be sorted after part water change with distilled water. 10 fish in total, 5 Neon Tetras and 5 Zebra Danios, using Interpet Fin rot and fungus treatment.

Phew, xxx

Thats ok then.
How much of the fins have gone, and any red streaking in them.

Nope, no red streaks just ears in top fins and tail, one was dead this morning and tail had completely vanished overnight. No bullying is going on at all though, they were from Pets at Home...say no more. Other fish are ok but was worried that they may have already got it so treated them all, since I put the treatment in which was about an hour ago, all the danios are on the top of the water swimming, but I have an air stone going and the tetras seem ok xxx

Right the finrot is bad do you have anti internal bacteria med by interpet, as that fungus and finrot med is not that good.

Excuse my language but oh bugger, no I haven't. Should I be adding some safewater with the meds then to help? I will NOT be buying from that shop again, am very dissapointed to have lost a fish!

Safe water is that a water conditioner if so only time you use it if for a water change.
I would get the bacterial med just in case that finrot med dosn't do much.
Finrot is mainly due to bad water quality.
R.I.P.

Will have to purchase some then, finrot only happened when I put the new fish in and I have since been able to test the shops water quality and it is REAL bad. Poor little mites, hope they dont all go! Shop was not greatly pleased when I returned it to them, sure they must think its only an 80p fish but its still a little life that I am responsible for!

Thanks so much for your help, will try that stuff and see how it goes....oh one last thing...can I use that straight away or do I have to wait now...don;'t wanna overdose fish with some lethal cocktail!

Thanks again xxx

Do a 30% water change and run some black carbon for a few hours.
Remove the carbon then add the bacteria med, good luck.
