I'm starting this thread as another idea for the Betta owners that have ever had a problem with a betta that nips his own fins. I currently have one, my boy Ice. To start with some history, a couple of months ago, I had two bettas in a divided tank. Did not go so well. You can read the ordeal here http
/www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/376161-omg-what-have-i-done/page__p__3148543__fromsearch__1#entry3148543 . Ever since, Ice has been nipping his own fins. I have tried rearranging his tank, adding new decor, and I have been trying liek heck to keep his water the cleanest possible, to no avail.
This is what he looked like:
This is now...
So today, I thought, maybe he needs a new environment completely. So I did a good cleaning on my 10g and moved him into the 10g, and moved Flare (10g occupant) into the smaller one. Flare is doing well in his new environment, not showing signs of stress, and happily exploring and blowing bubbles. Ice is exploring the 10g, seems to be pretty happy with it, and I am medicating the tank with Bettafix (undermedicating) in hopes that his poor fins will grown back. I am going to keep a log with his behaviors and hoepfully have pictures of his tail FINALLY healing after dealing with this problem for months. Wish me luck!!
