Filtration

the noise is actually the pressure building up infront of the impeller... if you put the outlet somewhere with loads of plants and rockies to distribute the flow it should be good

I've already got a 305 which came with the tank package. It's OK. Would I be better with the 306 rather than the 406 do you think, or would I not be gaining much benefit? The 306 is supposed to be much better with its improvements.

i'd still go for the 406... more filtration capacity in it... and as i said, if you make it so the flow is weakened by its surroundings there wont be many side affects! maybe a cluster of rocks on one side of the tank and the outlet at the bottom of the tank.... you could put a venturi inlet further up but i dont think there would really be much problem...

Did you edit out the mention of the Tetratec ex1200 because I've been looking at it on line since you, or whoever it was, mentioned it and it looks really good.

Sorry I just realised you mentioned it on the other post I'm watching. Any further recommendation of the tetra?

yep, its pretty #40## good... the flow rate is 1200 l/h but that goes down with media... very reliable filter too... and as i have said... blowing the fish about isnt a problem if you hide the outlet!

EDIT: oop dear, didnt think that was a swear word +_+

I'm running 2 EX1200's on my 260 litre. Can't fault them.

If I decided to change my Fluval 305 for the Tetratec ex1200 during the cycling process, and I swapped all the internal stuff from one to the other, would it affect the cycling?
