Hi

As a surprise I'm buying an aquarium for my girlfriend, who has kept tropical fish before, and I've been reading up and bigger seems to be better (or easier) I've therefore decided on a 200x60x60(cm) and I'm confused on filtration, is more filtration better or is it a balancing act? I was going to invest in an under the gravel system, output 950lts, and a filter which 'fixes' to the side, output of 1500lts, will this be overkill? I will be having plants and I'm unsure of the type and number of fish. From what I have read this hobby soon becomes an addiction so I assume the tank will eventually become full to capacity!

Thanks

more is always better you need to aim for 5x the tank capacity per hour you would be better off going for 2 large external filters like fluval fx5's on a tank as large as that
you need to acheive around 4000 litres per hour turn over
