I bought a 10 gallon tank for my fry...then I realized they'll get sucked up in the intake for the filter. Would a undergravel filtration system be best for the fry? Or what do you suggest doing?
1.take a hot glue gun heat it.
2.take a cloth mesh or suttin w/ smaller holes and make a tube like thing
3.hot glue the end down
4.hot glut the bottom
5.let it dry and push it over the intake.
I've always found sponge filters with an air pump are great. If they are mature they will have goodies that fry will nibble at and they don't suck fry into them.
I guess I should read up on it...I really don't know what a sponge filter is or how they work. What I did do is slipped the toe part of pantyhose and secured it with a clear hair rubberband. So far so good.
Classic. I've found that'll work at a pinch and is alot easier then faffing around with bits and pieces. I use a piece on the outlet in one of my male bettas tanks as the flow is too strong and no adjustable. It makes the water disapate with much less ooomf. My fry tank has sponge filters going. They now have two running since they're rather big now. Depending on the fry in question a 10g may not be big enough after a while.

id go with the sponge filter. no chance of error there. they are really, really cheap too. (replacement cartridges and the filter itself-which is just a plastic shell..)
