In terms of mechanical operation, it wouldn't allow nitrite to spike without ammonia going high as well.

In terms of biological operation, it's quite difficult to lose one population of bacteria without the other.

How long has the filter been set up, and how did you establish the cycle?

i know exactly what filter you have as i have an IN 300..... nitrite is something bacterial.... what do you mean by not working properly though?

i have to admit, the media space isn't all to great... i dont know about yours... your one is a double cartridge.... mine i think is a single.....there are a few ways to improve flow if thats your problem.....

mine is the doudel and when the filtre is running with it being 1cm in the water it makes bubbels some time it not doeing it

aah right... its a flow issue... have you got the green knob up as far as it will go towards the + mark on the body?

if that don't work then drain about 10 litres and gently squeeze the filters out in the water.... then top your tank back up again....
