My partner and I have recently purchased two rosy barbs and two other fish - i cant remembe their names at he moment, so we have decided to get a slight bigger tank, however the interpet filter ps1 does not stick to the tank, question: does it have to be fully submerged.....

Hi welcome to the forum! Just a few questions about your tank so we know a bit more about your tank as a new member :) How old is the filter you have? How big is the new tank? And what do the other fish look like?

With the filter, as long as its underwater your fine the outlet can poke over the top to like pour the water into the tank if you see what I mean but to keep it quiet if its submerged it does the same job. I used to use the interpet filters a lot a few years ago but mine kept getting really really badly jammed all the time like at least once a week and usually in the middle of the night which when its in your room makes you freak out lols. If it goes well for you forget what Ive said but perhaps consider a back up filter like a fluval U2?

hI, thanks for the reply, we have fully submerged the filter and it worked fine, however it became unstuck during the night, I think its the suction pads, what about wire or glue or something to keep it in one place.

Hi Wills, its a 48 litre tank, my girlfriend already has two rosey barbs and included two platies, in an older smaller tank. Being new to fish we decided they need a slightly bigger tank, for their own welfare and went for the interpet one. Nice size, looks good, cost over £100, the problem are the suckers, they don;t stick onto the glass. What I mean is they stick and sooner or later they come off.

Doing our heads in.

Hi ah I see, been quite a while since first post now any issues with the set up?

With the suction pads take them out dry them off wet the bottom of the pad (I usually lick it) then put it on the glass outside of the water and pull gently on it so you feel it tighten then attach the filter etc to the pads in place.
