will my filter still work effetivly if:

i take a pre made filter media for one of my filters and cut a little bit off and kind of "stuff" the rest it into the space where the previous one was?

i dont really understand the question...maybe try wording it differently and i or someone else can help you.

are you saying maybe you have a 4 inch long piece of media but only have space for say 3 inches? if you cut that inch off, will it still work the same?

i wouldn't see why not, we've done that before and not had any problems.

of course i could be wrong doing that!!

the filter may not move the specified amount of water but as for biological filtration. as long as there is something there for the bacteria to live in then it should suffice. I buy large filter sponges and cut them down to size for all my filters.

sorry, what i mean is i have a tetra tec filter with special tetra tec filter medias made for that filter. but i also have a fluval filter, so if i cut the tetra tec media a bit and put it in the space where the fluval fiter media would go, would it still be ok.

well i have done it and it seems to work fine
