Filters With Built Uv Sterilizer System

I have just ordered a filter with built in UV sterilisation and will be setting it up tommorow to eventually replace my Fluval 405. The new one is 2000l/h.


Just wondering if anyone has had any experience of a filter with this uv system and is it any good?

I've asked this question before with no response, BUT I'm very interested in your experience with it. Please let us know what you think. I am getting a UV sterilizer in the mail in the next couple of days for a green water problem that I can't seem to solve. I too will report on this.

Not had experience with it on a filter but I ran a UV on my tank a while back and it was fantastic piece of mind. Main thing I found was make sure that you can get to the bulb easy mine was a £80 internal unit and you couldnt get into the bulb or chamber and it just clogged up after a while, well when I say a while it was about a year it became a real issue but Im sure the bulb must have gone by then. Replacement bulbs are usually £20-£40 depending on size. But I think they are a good idea, most people say they are not necessary for FW but I think they are worth it.

Awesome i do believe it is the sunsun one, i ordered it from http/www.allpondsolutions.co.uk/aquarium-external-filter-2000-l-h-9w-uv-1216-0.html. Was going to pay £150 odd for a fx5 but tehn saw this and thought i can get 2 of them for the same price!!!

So trialling the first now until it has matured and can replace the fluval 405 and then will get a 2nd to replace my eheim (not sure of model).

Also added a powerhead from that site for £16 to boost the oxygen in the tank,bit powerful though!

Yep thats the same person I got mine from. The way the spray bar is set up on these filters its really quite powerful jets and does put a huge ammount of air into the water if positioned above the water line. Personally I think its a great filter.

I run a filter with a UV light inbuilt outside on my pond and it works great water is crystal clear. Doesn't stop algae and stuff growing on the sides though I hope you know only keeps the water clear
