Good day all.

I am a bit confused if a filter has got the following specs

which is the true actual gallons it does per hour

- Maximum Output: 200 U.S. Gal. (757 l) per hour
- Full Flow Control: 66 U.S. Gal. (250 l) per hour

Does the filter filtrate my water 200 us gallongs per litre or does it only do 66 us gallons.

I want to try and workout how many gallons it does per hour.

Please help.

Cheers.

The only way to tell for ure is set your filter up, with all it's media in place and put the outlet in a large bucket.

Then either run the filter until the bucket is full, timing it, or time it for a minute or two and see how much water it pushes out.

A bit of simple maths will work out your actual, real world, output.

Adding to what Fluttermoth said, manufacturers usually indicate their empty filter flow outputs; ie, with no media in it. I would expect a real life scenario to probably be about 75% of what the manufacturers tell you. :good:

Hi all

Thanks a mil for the input so which one do I use? the maximum output which 75% is 567 liters or full flow control which is 187 liters per hour

- Maximum Output: 200 U.S. Gal. (757 l) per hour
- Full Flow Control: 66 U.S. Gal. (250 l) per hour

It depends on the size of the tank, what fish you keep and whether the tank is planted or not.
