Filter wool, filter floss?

Is filter wool and filter floss the same?
With the aquaclear filters do you just chuck them on top of the sponges?

I believe they are indeed one and the same.

If they're not the same, they do the same job anyway so it doesn't matter.

I suspect the wool would be used in place of the white/blue filter sponges?
