If you wanted them in the 29 and your sure they will be compatible with your fish then yes put them in the 29. But you will experience a mini cycle in the 29 so you'll need to do daily 10-20% water changes in the 29
Please consider the total adult inches of all your fish in the 29. If they equal more than 29 then you are pressing your stocking limit and will have latent ammo and nI in the tank.
take a glass of water, set it out for a few hours and then test its pH. You want to set it out for a few hours so dissolved gases in the tap water leave (like CO2 may artificially depress your pH). Stir it up whenever you walk by it.
If it is near, within 0.5 to 1.0 pH units you can do as large a water change as you can handle. Just make sure the replacing water is the same temperature as the tank water.
Otherwise, the small frequent water changes are the way to go. You must get your ammonia down as quickly as possible. You are going to have to test frequently over the next 4-6 weeks as well until you are sure the tank is cycled.
So Im testing in a minute. I had to drive my boyfriend home and we actually got stuck in the car. The locks froze shut and we couldnt get out. We had to wake his dad up and get him to heat up the locks with a portable heater. Fun times-lemme tell you. Its been a goooood night :sarcasm: =D
My girlfriend just told me about a fit all key that you canput in your lock and it will heat up the lock so you can open the door. Might wanna look into it or learn to climb through a car window sorry your having such a rough night. I hope the fish issue turns out well.
Hi Lexie3787, it seems like when it rains it poors. I was curious about something you said earlier on the thread. You mentioned that you replaced a part in your filter. What part was that? Was it the sponge or cartridge that is the part of the filter that is called the biological filter media. The sponge in some filters is the mechanical filter, but for some filters it is the only media.
No I said I replaced a part in my 3 part filter in my 29 gallon. The 10 gallon I emptied of dirty water and just swooshed it around in a tub of tank water for a second
I made sure to empty the filter water, I replaced 1 part, cleaned the rest in a small bucket of tank water, put stress coat for my fish and hopefully all is well, thanks.
