Hi all.

New to the forum so bare with me. Done a search but couldn't find the answer.

Is it ok to use chrome covered copper pipe in the tank and to an external filter instead of the normal clear or brown plastic pipe?

Reason i'm asking is i have a new Biube which is as several people have said is a "Designer Style fish tank and not for real fish keeping". Not to everyones taste i know but this was my choice :p

I have a Fluval 103 External cannister filter which i am going to use instead of the standard setup, hence the question about the chrome pipe.

My concern is will the copper break down and effect the water quality or effect the fish.

Any help would be appreciated.

I will post some pics soon.

Cheers

John

no it is not.
most of the time the chrome is only on the outside and it will peel over time. the inside is steel tube an will rust, leading to all sorts of problems with water quality

Thanks for the quick response.

Are you saying the chrome will cause the problem or the copper pipe underneath. Its not steel or iron so it wont rust.
