I am getting a 55. Would my penguin 33 be good for it? or Should I get another to balance both sides of the tank? But the wouldnt 660gph for a 55 bee tooooo much?

at just over 10x filtration you should be good to go.

remember its always better to have too much filtration than not enough, so long as you are not creating a tidal current in your tank :D

So your sayingget another 330

Hi. You must mean that you have a Penguin 330? I think that is plenty for a 55 as long as you aren't terribly overstocked. I have a Penguin 350 on my 55 and i think it's plenty. The current is pretty strong so i don't think i'd want to go any higher than that. In my opinion, 2 filters that size would be way way way too much.

I don't know about way too much. The ideal turnover is around 5 x the tank per hour. But filters never achieve the rated amount as the water is being pulled through all the media and slowed down. So you would probably be fine with either one, providing you don't have any fish that explicitly prefer more still waters.
