Hi everyone. I've just set up a new 20g tank in my office at work with a aquaclear 50 filter. My question is how this filter will do in the case of a power outage? It's not a matter of IF, but a matter of WHEN a power outage(s) will strike this winter. I've noticed that the aquaclear doesn't want to self- prime, so i'm a bit worried that when the power goes out and i'm at home, will the filter be ok? or should i look into getting a small canister filter?

Our power outages can sometimes be as short as 1 hour, or as long as a few days. :(

Thanks for your advice!

Any reccomendations as to brand? I have a rena xp2 (rated for 75g) on my 55g that was a emergency buy that i should upgrade to at least a xp3... would the xp2 be ok on my 20g, or would that be excessive?

If you can adjust the flow then it will be fine, overfiltering is never a problem but too much flow buffeting the fish around will be.
