Filter Question

I recently upgraded to a Fluval Roma 200 which came with an internal fluval U4 filter. I would rather use an external filter, will my Eheim professional 2224 which I used on my previous tank be sufficient for a tropical community set up. It is about 4 years old and has run faultlessly. If not, any recommendations for up graded external filter.

I have the same tank and I'm using a fluval 305 external which is (supposedly) 1000ph. I have no problems with it but I know a lot of people on here swear by the Tetratec externals.
