Filter Question

Sorry to be a pain again, I think you guys and girls are going to get fed up with me keep asking daft question.

But I have another tank that I shall be setting up in the near future and I have heard about putting mature filter media in the new tank which will give it a bit of a kick start. But which bit do I use? Am I right in thinking that I use the white spongy bit at the top of the old filter in the new filter or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

I hope some kind person(s) can set this right. Once again many thanks and sorry for being quite dumb

I thought you use your bio media in your filter, such as plastic balls, matrix, eheim subtrate that is in your mature filter in your new one.

iv always took a bit from each part just not the carbon if used thats best using fresh as the more you have the better it is for the filter and the fish in the future
