Does it matter where internal filters are placed within the tank?

I have a 10 gallon tank with an Elite Stingray pump:

I have it positioned in the corner behind my rock.

Does it matter that its there? Would cycling be a bit quicker if i moved the pump into the middle? Or does it not matter?

Thanks

Ian

hi, it will be fine where it is, ugly things arent they? good to have it behind the ornament!!!!! do you find it to be quite noisy when its running?. i did

I find it quiet to be honest, compared to my girlfriends other brand of filter which is quite the opposite. Yeah theyre an unusual style, i got it with the tank so may as well use it, and simple to get in to. I could hide it totally by pushing it down, but then my fish wouldnt have room behind the rock to swim and hide etc, plus i heard its good for the filter output to be near the top of the tank - oxgyen or something.

Ugh, looking at my photo again, the red plant on the right hand side, comparing it to now, my plant looks like its dieing lol. Whereas my other one is a-okay!!
