I have a rio 60 that has the jewel filter in the far right corner but i have also got an addtional filter that stick on the gall in the tank.

Where is the best place to put an addtional filter in a Jewel rio 60

Thanks

I would go for the opposite end of the tank to balance things out and optimise filtration.

I would do exactly the opposite - but that's not to say I am right :p
I would run them alongside each other to have the same current flow. If placing them on opposing ends, I would have thought a whirlpool effect would be created in such a small tank......

Sorry should have elaborated, i have 2 internal filters in my 20gal at opposite ends of the tank. They have adjustable outlet nozzles so i point 1 slightly towards the front of the tank and the other towards the back so the flow is consistent and the 2 currents don't act against each other.

Elaboration definitely helps :p
but out of interest, do you not find your current quite aggressive like that ? Or do your fish not mind it ? Or is your flowrate quite low ?

The flow is adjustable but i have them both on full. I have mainly largish fish in that tank so they don't really notice it and i'm talking Fluval +2 filters so the current isn't that strong.

Interesting. I also have a 20Gallon in which I have a Fluval 2+ as well as a smaller Rena (not that it's needed, but I keep it in case I need a hospital tank and does no harm) and must say I find the current is very strong :/ and if I don't have it will positioned it blasts the sand all over the place.

The filter outlets are right at the top of the tank only just submersed and the air intake is closed on both so nowhere near the substrate. I have 2 due to the stocking levels. The only surface dwellers i have are the danios and the Praecox and they love it. Would be too strong for neons etc though and I certainly wouldn't keep a Betta in the tank.
