I don't think there is a 'right' place. If you have an internal it is best to place it where it doesn't spoil your 'natural' effect. The only preference I have is to place the heater the same end as the filter outlet so the flow is drawn away from heater. This allows for even distribution of water temp and a quicker temp. stablisation after water changes........just my way, no rocket science involved
I agree with scott. But it depends on where you like it. From your picture it looks like the right side of your tank is covered with high plants, maybe have it positioned behind the plants (if it will fit) so you cant see the filter as much? It also depends on the openings of your lid.
Most filters do not clean small particles from the water, to 'polish' water you need a diatom filter or a canister filter with a micron cartridge. Scott

planning to get a canister filter.....the water is clean but u could see a lot of small particles, as u told, floating around. went to the LFS today to have a look at all brands....liked the tetratec ones.....the price is also good
mine is a 84 ltr tank so tetratec EF 600 will be fine for now..... but the price of EF 700 is only €5 more.....(€59 and €65)...any suggestion?...
