hi guys,
I want a new filter and wondered if anybody could point me in the direction of a suitable one for my 100L tank. The one i have works fine, but its getting old and also its is the kind that came with the tank and is housed in a large black box in corner of tank. I want that space back!
any suggestions welcomed
thanks!

Hi, I have a number of tanks with one of them having my first External filter as well as the Internal (which happens to be in the hood).  I inherited this when I purchased the tank, which holds 215L.  The External turns over 1400 L/H along with the option for a UV light, which currently I have running.  This External is made by ALL PONDS SOLUTIONS and is in the bedroom and therefore very quiet!  One thing though was that the filter fittings were broken when I bought the tank (secondhand), and these were going to cost £10+ to replace.  The first time I turned it on the water leaked out due to the hood fittings on the filter not locking it down tight enough.  I found another solution which was to use a ratchet strap which holds the whole thing together, this cost me £2.50 and I am sure will last a lot longer than the hood fittings!  It is a great filter from what I know about it so far, but have yet to take it apart for a service :)  They have good reviews so check them out...

Another option is the Hang on the Back filters, I have one of these too and it is very easy to maintain, although I do find it clogs more quickly, or appears to than my internal filters, but very pleased with it overall.

What do you have in your aquarium, as this may make a difference to some more experienced than me in advising you?  I also tend to get a filter that is bigger than required which I believe is the recommendation by most professional/experienced fish keepers.

Hope this helps ...

On my 240l i use a all pond solution external 1000lph and a 2000lph
But on yours i would get the external 1000lph it should be more then enough just make sure you have room to hide it
