Filter Noise

I have a moray 700l internal filter in my tank its fully under the water line but occasionally I can here want sounds like a rush of air being released and a quick release of bubbles just above the filter, what could this be ? Its fully under the water so how can air be present ? It has a surface skimmer could it be that.

Anything above the water can push air into the filter and through the system. So yea, Most likely.
