I am new to planting in my aquarium and noticed in some topics in this forum mentions that carbon inserts are not good for plants...why is that??? Are ammonia remover inserts bad too and is there other inserts i have to worry about? I have a aquaclear 70 power filter running with a sponge, ammonia remover and carbon inserts in my tank containing plants such as bacopa, anubias and java moss, all of them looking pretty good and growing wonderfully despite the carbon inserts and the no added ferts....
P.S. if carbon inserts are bad for planted aquarium, is there any thing i can do do keep the aquarium clear?

You've posted this twice :)

Re the PS - carbon isn't bad per se, its just not beneficial that's all. The plants you have are also pretty hardy and can probably cope with the lower fert levels.

A good filter should keep a tank clear without the carbon, I don't have it in either of my three tanks and the waters fine :)
