Filter media?

I just purchased a fluval 50 hob filter system. I am currently using the media that came with the filter.

My question is. Can I mix different media in the same bag? i.e. carbon\api nitra-zorb. Or other combinations? This filter is by far more versatile than the top fin 20 that came with the kit.

Mixing filter media is perfectly fine, there no harm in it in my opinion. Just make sure the water passes through the finest media (such as filter floss) last.

Mine is set per the box directions.
Bio max on top
Carbon in the middle
Foam on the bottom

Thought about cutting the foam down by half. Adding Zeo-Carb
Then a pouch of the nitra-zorb. Then the bio-max.

Might add a polisher on top.

It should hold four fairly easily. I wouldnt cut foam down. I use zeo carb in mine in place of carbon. Can still get extra in there.

Foam poly fill zeo carb purigen bio max ...good combo
