Filter Media ?

I want to set up a 5 gallon quarantine tank. I have a filter with new media running in a well established tank, how long will it take for it to help quick cycle a tank?

Or you could take some filter media out of your main tank, then add the new peice to the establised tank.

A couple of weeks is safe to establish the new bacteria, though as mentioned you can simply use media from the main tank in the small filter and there would be no waiting period.
