Filter Media Bacteria

I recently contacted juwel for advice on changing filters I my tank. The advice was to put the filter pads from my existing filter into the new filter. However, failing that I should simply squeeze the sponges out into the new filter and over the new sponges. Anyone heard of this?

yep perfectly normal, adding the mature sponges into the filter for a month will be the best way, squeeze them out will not do a great deal so don't bother it just better then nothing if it came to it
