Hi mate, don't know anything about this filter but you normally just have to put the carbon in the top section and stick the powerhead on when you buy a new internal filter. I'm presuming it is internal because you're trying to install it in the tank...

Could always post us a pic of what you've got and we could jigsaw puzzle it for you?

What are you using the activated carbon for as you only use it too remove meds.

so i dont need the carbon part i can just use it as a filter

there seems to be a snorkel towards the top does that need to be submerged
