Filter Driving Me Up The Wall

I recentley purchased an Elite 60L setup.
I filled it, setup and followed the great guide on here and cylced the tank, then I turned off the filter for and added a couple of black mollys.
When i turned the filter back on it was making a weird clicking noise, its defintley coming from the filter, sorry for the terrible comparrison, but it sounds like hardrive writing data.

I've tried changing the direction of the flow, but nothing seems to be stopping it.
Its driving me and my wife crazy.

Anyone got any ideas?

Your hard drive shouldnt make any noise that is clearly noticeable, probably a sign of it dying. But on topic, how long did you have the filter off?

it could be air that is trapped in the motor/ impellor housing.

Is it sat on the suckers correctly, I had this problem, and when I pressed the filter to the suckers the noise stopped. I hadn't quite got them in properly, the other is to take the impellor out and put it back in again and make sure it's seated properly.

is the impeller stuck or some sand stuck in it. it might be worth taking it apart

I checked the impellor and put it back together and now its nice and quiet again.

BTW it is normal for HDD's to make noises when running, especially when its reading/writing, the cruching sound, perfectly normal!

Yes it is normal, but it shouldnt be easily distinguished over other room sounds... Sorry about off topic
