Hi
I have a tank similar in size to the trigon190, I have decided to change the Juwel internal filter for an external filter. My question is to do with the heater which is currently located inside the filter, can I reuse the heater if in the tank if it is out of the filter? I know it would need housing in something so the fish don't touch it, is there something that can be used to do this?

Any tips you can give will be very helpful

Thanks

Andy

you can buy a sucker bracket and a heater shield to keep the heater in the tank the heater shield is optional i don't have one and haven't ever had a problem

that sounds easy,

Next question, which out of these two is the best/easiest to use, Eheim classic or the Tetratec EX700?

no experience with either but eheim is meant to be the best make of filters.

Are you going to keep the media from the other filter in the canister?

Thanks for the replies, I decided to go for the Tetratec, main reason being my LFS stocks them and i trust the people who run it (This one) not the best site i've seen, they've been really helpful to me and offered good advice. Anyhow regarding the media, my plan is to keep the Juwel filter running for a couple of weeks while the other media matures, after which I will take out the Juwel and keep the Tetratec running.
Does this sound like a good plan?

Andy

You'll never regret buying a Tetratec. Wish I'd done it months before I actually did. Just remember not to change the media every month like they tell you - use it until it's nearly falling apart, then replace it bit by bit. Dont even bother checking it unless you notice the return flow output is dropping.
