Filter Broke

HELP my filter is broke.i will go out and buy another one tommmorow however will i need to cylcle it or whatever
what do i do

What filter is it, sure it dosn't wan't a good clean to get it going again.

Sometimes they take a while to get going again, mine do it, make sure the sponges are not to near the top of the compartments as it stops the water flowing through, remove the impellor and give it a bag on a surface to unblock it.

and what do i do if i have to get a new one

Just move the mature sponges over to the new filter, do you have an airstone for extra aeration.

if you get another one jus get the same model and swap the media over, should fit straight in.
was it a fluval 2 plus internal or a fluval 204 external?

I dont think there is a fluval 2 for sale in the shop

i am getting one that is £13.99 suitble for a 15-20 gallon
dont know the make
will the spunge fit that

If the filter is broke, but i find they don't break they just play up at starting up again, if you get another filter make, just squeeze all the muck out of the old sponges onto the new ones if you can't get the old sponges in the new filter, try and get as much beneifical bacteria into the new sponges as possilbe.

olk ta but i cleaned it so the bacteria will prob of gone a bit

thge pump is in the tank now

You mean you cleaned the sponges, you did clean them in old tank water.

It is important with internal fluvals to remove the impellor and clean in the slot where it is seated occasinaly or they will not restart. Also check the impellor for cracks and chips. Fluvals internals don't break

No, wouldn't do anything, i would try and get the filter going, how old is it.
