Can a siamese fighter live with on but not the other?

Is it live with a filter but can live without a heater or the other way around?

Do they need a heater more than a filter?

If you house is like a persian brothel and you can maintain the tank water at around 27-28C then they are happy. At 25 of lower they tend to be more lethatgic and mope around (course I'm gonna have peep's now saying I keep mine at 22C and their happy, well thats nice for you!!!!)

As for filter, you should idearly keep them with a small filter, but they dont need at, as long as you do 2-3 water changes a week to remove the toxins that the filter removes.

Bettas can live without both, provided that the temperature of the room the fish is kept in is igh enough to keep the water at or above 72 degrees Fahrenheit. But this is only appropriate for small tanks really. For larger tanks (over 2.5 US gallons) you should have a small heater. Filters tend to be a nuisance to bettas as the disturb the water surface and/or create a current in the tank, which most bettas dislike. You can either put a flow kill on your filter run off or use a sponge filter and extend the air tube above the water's surface. :good:

Thanks.

I'mk planning to have a small tank for a betta and a few catfish.

I should hopefully be getting a halfmoon.

I don't want to many fish that will attack his tail.

I wouldn't keep a betta with anything else in the tank unless the tank is 5+ US gallons (20+ liters), and even then a couple amono or ghost shrimp, a snail, corys or otos is all you want to add to a 5 gal. tank. Don't really bother with other tank mates until you get to 10 gal. or so.

They really like to be by themselves. They can then pretend they have their own little kingdom...
