I have a hydor pico nano which is the filter for my 40 litre and was wondering if it could still be used for my 70 litre. The new tank came with a aqua-flow 200 and don't know wether I should use that one instead.

The heater I have at the minute is a 50w delta thermometer and again don't know if it is strong enough for the 70 litre. The tank also came with a super fish 100w Eco heater and don't know wether I should use that one instead.

The first picture is the filter I have now
The second picture is the one that comes with the tank
The third picture is the heater I have now
The fourth picture is the heater that comes with the tank

Thanks

I'd swap both of these if it was me.

50w heater not really enough for 70 litres, rule of thumb generally is 1w per litre. So for a 70 litre you'd need at least a 70w heater so 100w is perfect.

You can get away with a 50w heater but it would mean the heater being on for much longer periods of time and may not do so well to keep temp constant during very cold nights since winter is coming.

No such thing as over filtration INHO, so I'd swap for the more powerful filter as this would help the flow and water turnover.
Anyway, don't think your hydor filter would be powerful enough for a 70litre tank.

So I would swap both the heater and filter, keep the hydor and delta heater as spare should you ever need them, might be useful for a small quarantine/hospital tank should the need ever arise.

Thank you and when swapping the tanks over can I just put all the gravel, ornaments and water in the new tank and then top it up to the top and then put the new filter and heater in. I was also thinking that I could wash the old filter media in the water of the new tank to help the new filter and then should not experience any problems?

Do you have any stocking in your 40L tank at the moment?

If so, then can you tell us what you have at the moment and how many, also do you have live plants as well.

The more details the better.

Yes at the minute in the 40 litre I have a pair of kribensis and 7 rummies and I do have some live plants but no idea what they are but will attach a photo to see if anyone can identify them. All the plants at the back and to either side of the fish tank are plastic the only live ones are the ones in front of the rock.
