I have read numerous things, and now I'm quite confused. This is how I do it.

Fill up my buckets with water from bath tub, gently pour the water in, dechlorinate water with Aquaplus(3 capfulls).

Is this properply done? Thank you.

i de-chlorinate my water before i put it into the tank!! and add get right temp before adding de-chlorinator!

is there a reason why you wait for the right temperature before adding the de-chlorinator?

well no to be honest - i just get right amount of water at right temperature then de-chlorinate the volume

i have thought tho if de-chlorinator with the trace elements in it is mixed in cold water and then shocked with warm/hottish water it may de-nature them!!

dont know how true that is but i get right temp like i said and then de-chlorinate.

so you have a separate heater for the tapwater before de-chlorinating and adding to the tank?

You want to add the dechlorinatore before adding it to your tank. Also you want to make sure the temperature is close to the tank temperature or you could shock your fish with too much of a change too quickly.

no i dont (maybe i should do)!!! do have an extra thermometer though!! to know it's the right temp

i get some cold water first and then heat up in a pan sum cold water (not boiling though) and add the heated water to the cold - stick in the the thermometer and wait a while until i see the reading you can most of the time tell by sticking clean finger (1 in the tank and other 1 in the bucket to see if it's at the right temp - but use thermometer to make sure!

same can be said for a 170 litre tank if u need 2 or 3 buckets of water to change - same applies!!!!

Well, it says 3 capfulls per gallon. But, the buckets are like 1 gallon. So how much do I put in the buckets?

3 cap fulls?

errrrrrr

i use litres to work out my de-chlorinator - 1 teaspoon is equivalent to 5mls of solution i have a syringe that was used for baby medicine and work out the mls that way!!

sorry!!

You can add it directly to the tank before adding the fresh water if you like. Many people do this, ie. if you're using a python.

I meant 1 capfull per gallon. Hehe. So, how much do I put in the bucket?

yep if ur bucket is 1 gallon and it says add 1 capfull to 1 gallon then add that amount

tbh i have not read anywherewhere by putting in a few extra drops - u overdose but i would try to stay to the recommended amount

Just for interests sake I only have small tank (10 UK gal) and microwave 3 litre orange squash bottles of water to add to my tank. Check temp with thermometer. Add to bucket. Dechlorinate. Then add to tank. Will get a heater to put in my bucket eventually to warm it up instead but have found this method dead quick and easy to do. Dont know if anyone else does the same but Im patenting it right now. The Jonesy Method 2006 OK

The reason I do this is because Im worried about limescale / chemicals which could get in to my water from hot water supply or from kettle / cooking saucepans.
