r they really brackish? ive heard that they prefer it but it isnt nessisary is this true please only say yes or no if you have had an experance or no some1 who did cause other wise you did what i did which is read thats ok but i prefer expearences (sry bout spelling) ;)

They are most definately bracksih and I would say will need a SG of at least 1.005 once mature.

The confusion comes from people saying that they are found in freshwater and brackish. This i due to the fact that these fish (along with a number of other brackish and marine fish) tend to travel upstream to FW to spawn before returning to brackish or marine. That's why they can be found in FW but do not thrive in it once mature and if kept in it will be prone to Ich and other disease.

If you ever want info on a certain puffer, or are looking for a puffer for a certain tank, LordMinion and Ladyminion have a very good knowledge and are usually happy to help (I know they helped me out when setting up my Dwarf Puffer tank :D )

You will be able to keep a figure eight in freshwater until is matures, when it will need mildly brackish SG 1.005. A GSP needs to be kept in light brackish SG 1.005, then into medium brackish SG 1.010 and finally into high brackish/full marine SG 1.020.
