Figure 8

well in local pet stores i have 3 kinds.they are all in fresh water.spotted,8s,and dwarfs

I know that that figure 8's and spotted are brackish, and dwarfs are freshwater. The pet stores don't know what they are talking about usually

but they were in very nice condition for being there a week +.they were swimmin and pickin through the gravel

It takes months for them to weaken & die, but in the end they will. They can not survive in freshwater, the green spotted definatly can't! The figure 8 needs only light brackish (around 1.004) so they'll live in freshwater for a couple of months, but will still die in the end.

If you want freshwater puffers, have a look around in this section, you'll find plenty. If you really want the figure 8 puffer, go brackish. It isn't that difficult to keep

ive never set up a brackish before.i would relly like to thoutgh.is it very expensive

i iched up my gobys from the store a today and i bought th aqua. salt.

can some1 just tell me the basics of setup and maintaining brakish

but i have a small holding tank for a puffer.about 2 gollons.how much salt?

it is only for 2-4 days dont worry and i do have blood worms(frozen)

Make sure that the salt is not aquarium salt but proper marine salt.

it says "DOC WELLFISH'S AQUARIUM SALT"

it also says made from evaporated sea water

I wouldn't be sure, but I'd guess that is the wrong kind of salt to be using.

How long are you planning on keeping the fig8 in the 2 gallon holding tank?
